ABSTRACT
Complexnetworkshavethecorecharacteristicsofcollaborativeinnovationnetworks. The
interactionofmembersofinnovationnetworkshasaidedthegrowthofcollaborativeinno-
vationnetworks. Inaddition,risinghealthcareexpensesandaplethoraofbusinessoppor-
tunitiesinthehealthsectorhavecreatedastrongdemandforimprovedinnovationcreation.
However,duetothefragmentedandconvolutednatureofthehealthcareindustry,innova-
tiondevelopmentisdif?cult. Utilizingtheconceptsofcollaborativeinnovationnetworks,
whichrequirebusinessestobuildnewrolesandinteractionswithmanystakeholders,could
be one way to address the problems. In this study, we looked at Ghana’s collaborative
innovation networksand healthcare delivery. The study went on tolook atthe moderat-
ingroleofgovernmentinnovationsupportprogramsinpromotinginnovation,particularly
inthepublicsector,forbetterhealthcaredelivery. The?ndingscon?rmedthatcollabora-
tiveinnovationnetworkswillhaveapositiveimpactonhealthcaredeliveryinGhana. That
is, building new roles and interactions with innovative stakeholders such as the ministry
ofhealthanditsagencies,universities/researchinstitutions, suppliers, customers, foreign
partners,andnon-governmentalorganizationswithinthehealthsectorisverysigni?cantto
achievingimprovedhealthcaredelivery.Itwasalsodiscoveredthat,governmentinnova-
tionsupportschemeshaveasigni?cantpositiveimpactonhealthcaredeliveryandthatsuch
schemeswillmoderatethepositiverelationshipbetweencollaborativeinnovationnetworks
andhealthcaredelivery. Thestudyfoundthatdirectandindirectinnovationprogramslike
?nancialsupport,trainingofpersonnel,investinginRandDactivities,andacquisitionof
innovativeknowledgefromotherenterprisesororganizations,areveryessentialinenhanc-
ingtheinstitutionalcapacityofthehealthsectorandimprovehealthcaredelivery.However,
therewerefewlimitationsasthisstudyonlylookedatcollaborativeinnovationnetworksand
governmentinnovationsupportschemes’impactonhealthcaredeliverywithoutlookingat
othersortsoforganizationalstrategiesthatworktogethertoimproveorganizationalperfor-
mancetoachieveimprovedhealthcare.Asaresult,thestudysuggeststhatfutureresearch
canlookatvarioushealthcarestrategycombinations,suchasestablishingcaremanagement
systemsandcollaborativeleadership,toseewhethertheycanbeutilizedtoinvestigatethe
link between collaborative innovation networks and enhanced healthcare delivery. Also,
