ABSTRACT
With the rapid development of knowledge economy and fierce market competition,
enterprises need to enhance their creativity if they want to maintain their core
competitiveness. The creativity of enterprises is the primary basis to measure whether
enterprises can survive or not in the rapidly changing market, and it is also an important
manifestation of social competitiveness of enterprises. However, as an organization,
whether the enterprise can improve its creativity mainly depends on the senior managers
of the enterprise. Therefore, scholars and enterprises are increasingly concerned about
how to stimulate the creativity of senior managers.
Many scholars at home and abroad carry on the related research on creativity, most
of them are from the perspective of team, and from the individual perspective, the
research of creativity is mainly based on ordinary employees. While, this paper
discusses how to stimulate the individual creativity of senior managers, and the previous
scholars focused on the relationship between critical thinking and creativity mainly in
the field of pedagogy, and this article is mainly from the perspective of organizational
behavior.
Therefore, based on the component model of individual creativity, through reading
a lot of relevant literature, this paper regards internal motivation and critical thinking as
two independent variables, creativity as dependent variables, establishing theoretical
model of the influence of internal motivation and critical thinking on the creativity of
senior managers. The model discusses the influence of the intrinsic motivation and
critical thinking on creativity, beside, it also adds gender, age and literacy as control
variables. Then, a questionnaire survey was conducted on the senior managers of
modern industrial port in Chengdu Industrial Park. Three kinds of survey scales were
used, which includes intrinsic motivation scale, critical thinking scale and creativity
scale. Spss20.0 and Mplus 7.0 software were used to analyze the reliability,
confirmatory factor and regression with 206 valid samples. The results show that: (1)
individual intrinsic motivation is positively related to individual creativity, and the
influence is significant, that is, the stronger the intrinsic motivation, the higher the
creativity. (2) Individual critical thinking is positively related to individual creativity,
namely, the more critical thinking, the higher the individual creativity; (3) There is a

significant relationship between individual intrinsic motivation and individual critical
thinking. The results of the study are as follows:
(1) The individual intrinsic motivation is positively related to the individual
creativity, and the influence is significant, that is, the more the intrinsic motivation is,
the higher the creativity is.
(2) The individual critical thinking is adjusting the individual creativity, that is, the
more critical thinking, the higher the individual creativity.
(3) There is a significant relationship between individual intrinsic motivation and
critical thinking.
